Khulna: Students of Khulna University (KU) will have the chance to pursue higher education and research with full funding at the University of Yamanashi under a special scholarship program.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the opportunity is being offered for the October 2026 intake under the Special Recommendation Programme of Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). This initiative is part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between KU and the University of Yamanashi.
The program allows students from the Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) and Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) disciplines of KU to pursue fully funded postgraduate studies, including Master's and PhD degrees. Prospective applicants are required to submit their applications by January 15.
In a briefing session held at 10.00 am at the URP Lecture Theatre of KU, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Rezaul Karim emphasized the significance of this opportunity. He noted that pursuing postgraduate studies in a technologically advanced country like Japan could greatly benefit KU students in terms of knowledge, research, and international exposure. He also acknowledged Professor Dr Md Shamim Ahsan of the ECE Discipline for initiating the collaboration with the University of Yamanashi.
Professor Hanawa Masanori, Vice-President (Academic Affairs and Digital Transformation) of the University of Yamanashi, attended the session as the resource person. He provided detailed information about the application process, eligibility criteria, research opportunities, scholarship facilities, and the overall academic life in Japan.
At the conclusion of the session, Professor Hanawa Masanori was honored with a crest of recognition by the Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University. The event commenced with a welcome address by Professor Dr Md Ashik Ur Rahman, Director of the Office of International Affairs.
Other notable attendees included Pabna University of Science and Technology Treasurer and KU ECE Professor Dr Md Shamim Ahsan, ECE Discipline Head Professor Dr Md Mizanur Rahman, and senior faculty member Professor Dr Md Ismat Qadir.
