Dhaka: Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) President Chang Won-sam called on Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna to discuss key areas of development cooperation, investment, skills training, and support for Bangladesh's smooth transition from its current Least Developed Country (LDC) status.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting highlighted the mutual interest in strengthening political and developmental ties between Bangladesh and Korea. KOICA President Chang Won-sam conveyed the warm greetings of the Korean President and reaffirmed KOICA's commitment to supporting Bangladesh's interim government and its reform initiatives.
Chief Adviser Prof Yunus welcomed the KOICA President and expressed optimism about the future collaboration between the two nations, emphasizing Bangladesh's potential as a strategic partner in production and trade. Prof Yunus urged Korean investors to see Bangladesh as a hub for production, leveraging its skilled and eager workforce.
The discussion underscored the importance of people-centric cooperation, with a focus on language training, healthcare, and skills development. Prof Yunus advocated for the expansion of Korean language programs in Bangladesh to enhance opportunities for youth in education and employment in Korea. He also highlighted the need for collaboration in healthcare training, emphasizing the global demand for skilled nurses and healthcare workers.
KOICA President Chang Won-sam expressed interest in exploring further cooperation in skill development and educational initiatives. The meeting was attended by Chief Adviser's Special Envoy for International Affairs Lutfey Siddiqi and SDG Coordinator and Senior Secretary Lamiya Morshed.
