Khulna: Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) has undertaken a series of initiatives to ensure a safer metropolitan area. As part of these measures, KMP today began installing information drop-boxes at several important locations across the city.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, police officials mentioned that members of the public often feel hesitant to directly share information regarding crime. Considering this, KMP has taken the initiative to set up these drop-boxes, enabling citizens to provide information anonymously. They emphasized that ensuring law and order and eliminating crime from the city is difficult for the police alone. Therefore, residents have been requested to assist law enforcement by providing information about crimes, criminals, and crime locations through the boxes.
KMP also clarified that those submitting information are not required to mention their names or identities. Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operations) of the KMP Mohammed Rashidul Islam Khan formally inaugurated the initiative. Deputy Commissioner (North) Mohammed Tajul Islam, Deputy Commissioner (South) Sudarshan Kumar Roy, and other senior police officials were present, among others, on the occasion.
