Bashundhara: Bashundhara Kings and Mohammedan Sporting Club have successfully advanced to the semi-finals from Group B in the Federation Cup after winning their respective matches at different venues today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bashundhara Kings triumphed over Bangladesh Police Football Club with a resounding 4-1 victory at the Bashundhara Kings Arena. The Brazilian forward, Dorielton, was the star of the match, scoring all four goals for the Kings. His impressive hat-trick included goals in the 45+8th, 52nd, 83rd, and 88th minutes. Meanwhile, MS Bablu managed to score a consolation goal for the Police team in the 90+4th minute.
In another game, Mohammedan Sporting Club secured a 4-0 win against Arambagh Krira Sangha at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla. Sourav Dewan stood out by scoring a hat-trick, netting goals in the 76th, 83rd, and 89th minutes, while Jewel Mia added to the tally with an earlier goal in the 40th minute. Arambagh’s Ben Nash Quansah was shown a direct red card due to unsporting behavior, further hindering his team’s performance.
Both Mohammedan and Bashundhara Kings have accumulated eight points, but Bashundhara Kings emerged as group champions due to a superior goal difference. This success ensures their progression to the qualification round, with Mohammedan finishing as group runners-up.
The conclusion of Group A matches is anticipated on April 28. Brothers Union has already secured its place in the semi-finals as group champions. Meanwhile, the competition between Abahani Limited and Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society remains intense as they vie for the remaining spot in the last four.
