Chandpur: ‘Kids Kingdom Park,’ a privately established children’s entertainment center, has emerged as a popular leisure destination for young visitors in the district. Local authorities have expressed their support for the initiative, pledging assistance to help expand and enhance the facility.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Chandpur district, home to approximately 2.5 million residents, has limited entertainment options dedicated to children. Recognizing this gap, a group of entrepreneurs launched ‘Kids Kingdom Park’ on a small scale to offer a safe and enjoyable venue where children can spend their free time. Located in a tranquil setting on the eastern side of the Chandpur-Raipur road, about six kilometers south of the district town, the park comes alive in the afternoons as children from the town and nearby areas arrive with their families.
Kids Kingdom Park features several amusement rides and recreational facilities tailored for children and maintains security measures, including CCTV surveillance, to ensure a safe environment for its young visitors. Open from the afternoon until around 8 pm, the park offers various amenities such as food stalls, sanitation services, and prayer facilities. The venue attracts its largest crowds during festivals and school holidays, when families visit to enjoy quality time together.
Young visitors like seven-year-old Ahnaf and 12-year-old Asfi have expressed their enjoyment of the park’s rides and activities. They suggested that the park could be improved with more rides and expanded space. Happy Akhter, a mother, emphasized the importance of such places, noting that they allow children to have fun in a secure environment amid the busy schedules of their parents.
Other guardians praised the park’s security but noted the limited space, expressing hope for expansion to provide more room for children to play and explore. Entrepreneur Md. Zillur Rahman revealed that the idea for Kids Kingdom arose from the lack of dedicated entertainment centers for children in Chandpur. He pointed out that while the investment has been modest, government support could facilitate the park’s ongoing operations and the expansion of its facilities, as the land is currently leased.
Chandpur Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) SMN Jamiul Hikma commended the initiative, stating that the administration would support efforts to develop the park into a more child-friendly recreational space. He also mentioned encouraging nearby educational institutions to organize visits so students could benefit from the leisure activities offered.
Local residents are hopeful that with further development and official support, Kids Kingdom Park can evolve into a larger and more modern entertainment hub for children in Chandpur.
