Khulna: The district administration has announced a new policy setting the operating hours for shopping malls, markets, and shops across Khulna. This measure is part of broader power-saving efforts aligned with directives from the Prime Minister.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the directive stipulates that all shopping centers, including those in the metropolitan areas and upazilas, must close by 7pm. The order also mandates that billboard lights should be turned off by the same time to contribute to the power conservation initiative.
In addition to the operating hours for businesses, the directive extends to fairs and cultural events. All ongoing and future fairs, trade fairs, and cultural programs in the district are required to conclude by 7pm. The administration emphasized that any breach of these orders would result in legal proceedings against the violators, in line with existing laws and regulations.
