Khulna:Khulna City Corporation (KCC) is actively conducting cleanliness drives throughout the city to prevent mosquito breeding and enhance public awareness of dengue prevention.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, KCC Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju highlighted these efforts during an inspection of mosquito control and cleanliness activities in South Tutpara. He urged local residents to maintain clean surroundings and called upon educational institutions, mosques, madrasahs, government and autonomous offices, and business establishments to cooperate with KCC in dengue prevention.
The initiative is part of the Prime Minister's three-month campaign to control dengue transmission. Manju has been visiting various wards to monitor progress. He referenced the World Health Organization's warning on dengue, noting that while infections have decreased, the risk remains until November. He stressed the importance of vigilance among property owners to prevent mosquito breeding.
KCC's efforts include regular mosquito control and cleanliness activities, expanding medical services, and improving hospital cleanliness. The corporation has established nine medical camps for primary healthcare and data collection on dengue infections. The city is divided into red, yellow, and orange zones based on infection rates, with special focus on red zones. These activities are planned to continue over the next two months.
During a recent inspection, Manju visited multiple areas including Matiakhali Road and South Tutpara. He reviewed public awareness campaigns and checked on road and drain cleaning, water drainage, waste management, and mosquito eradication efforts. Accompanying him were KCC Secretary Md Reza Rashid, Chief Waste Management Officer Md Anisur Rahman, Waste Management Officer Md Ahiduzzaman Khan, authorised ward officer Sheikh Shafiqul Hasan Didar, and local dignitaries.
