Khulna: Khulna city unit BNP has taken a seven-day programme to mark the historic National Revolution and Solidarity Day on November 7. The decision came at an emergency meeting of the city BNP’s front and associate organisations held today with city BNP president Advocate Shafiqul Alam Mona in the chair.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the programmes include documentary exhibitions on the historic day at key points of the city, organized by the city Jubo Dal, on November 6. A colourful rally will commence from Zia Hall premises at Shibbari intersection at 4 pm and conclude at Royal Square via KDA Avenue on November 7. A public meeting emphasizing the significance of the day is scheduled at Shaheed Hadis Park at 3.30 pm on November 8.
Further activities involve food distribution by city Olama Dal at Abu Hanif Orphanage at noon, followed by a discussion meeting of the Mohila Dal at the BNP office at 4 pm on November 9. The Krishak Dal will distribute tree saplings in front of the BNP office on November 10. JASAS will host a cultural event at Shaheed Hadis Park on November 11, and a public meeting will be organized at Khalishpur under the initiative of the regional Sramik Dal on November 14.
During the meeting, Advocate Mona highlighted the significance of the November 7, 1975 uprising, describing it as a people-soldier revolution that liberated the country from external influence and paved the way for multi-party democracy. City BNP general secretary Shafiqul Alam Tuhin expressed the aspirations of the Bangladeshi people to establish a robust democratic state, inspired by the sacrifices made during the July-August revolution and the spirit of the Liberation War.
Several BNP leaders, including Syeda Nargis Ali, Sheikh Sadi, Md Masud Parvez Babu, Chowdhury Hasanur Rashid Miraj, Hafizur Rahman Moni, Murshid Kamal, Farid Ahmed Molla, Asaduzzaman Asad, and freedom fighter Md Alamgir, also addressed the meeting.
