Khulna: Khulna BNP today organized a procession and rally in the city to protest the assassination attempts on Inqilab Mancha Convener and independent parliamentary candidate from Dhaka-8 constituency, Sharif Osman Hadi, and BNP nominee from Chattogram-8, Ershad Ullah. The protest was a collaborative effort by Khulna city and district BNP units, aligning with a centrally announced program in the afternoon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the protest activities began with a rally at the party office on KDA Avenue. The event featured notable attendees, including BNP's former organizing secretary and Khulna-2 constituency candidate, Nazrul Islam Manju, who served as the chief guest. Other prominent speakers included BNP Student Affairs Secretary and Khulna-3 candidate Rakibul Islam Bakul, Information Affairs Secretary and Khulna-4 candidate Azizul Bari Helal, former district unit convener and Khulna-1 candidate Amir Ejaz Khan, women leader Syeda Nargis Ali, and Jafarullah Khan Sachchu.
The rally was presided over by Khulna city BNP Organizing Secretary Sheikh Sadi. During their addresses, speakers alleged that the recent attacks are part of a larger conspiracy aimed at undermining the upcoming national election. They accused both domestic and international forces of orchestrating these plots and urged BNP leaders and activists to remain united against such schemes.
The speakers demanded that the attackers face swift justice and receive the maximum punishment. They emphasized that the incidents were not isolated, noting that the attacks happened a day after the election schedule was announced. The speakers claimed that these actions were intended to disrupt the electoral process by targeting potential parliamentary candidates.
The rally concluded with a call for national unity against fascism and terrorism, asserting that such unity would be instrumental in overcoming the national crisis. Following the rally, participants marched through various city streets, culminating at Dakbangla Intersection.
