Khulna AL Leader Sent to Jail Over Vandalism Case

Khulna: A court here today sent an Awami League leader, Sharmin Rahman Shikha, to jail in a vandalism case filed with Khalishpur Police Station of the district. Khulna Metropolitan Magistrate passed the order after cancelling her bail petition.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a team of the Detective Branch (DB) of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP), using mobile tracking, arrested Sharmin Rahman Shikha, president of Khalishpur Thana Unit Awami League (AL), on Sunday evening from the Khalishpur area in the city, Taymur Rahman, Inspector of DB of KMP, confirmed.



He said Shikha was accused in a vandalism case filed at Khalishpur Police Station on August 14, 2025, and had been evading arrest since August 5 last year.



The First Information Report (FIR) detailed that AL leaders and activists led by Sharmin Rahman Shikha vandalized and looted valuables at the residence of Rakibul Islam Bakul, Central Student Affairs Secretary of BNP, on August 4, 2024.
