Khulna AL Leader Faiz Arrested in Dhaka

Dhaka: Members of the Detective Branch (DB) of police have arrested Kazi Faiz Mahmud, vice-president of Khalishpur Thana unit of Awami League (AL) in Khulna, from the city’s Bashundhara residential area early Friday. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khulna Metropolitan DB Police Taimur Islam mentioned that they had been searching for Faiz over the past few days.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrest was made following a raid conducted by a DB team at a rented house in Bashundhara. Faiz is currently being transported back to Khulna for further legal procedures. Police revealed that several cases, including charges of subversive activities, have been filed against him with Khalishpur Police Station.



Police sources also stated that there are allegations of abuse of power against Faiz during the Awami League government’s tenure. He is accused of using his acquaintance with Sheikh Sohel to exert undue influence in various places.
