Tehran: Iran’s foreign minister has confirmed that the country’s supreme leader, along with all high-ranking officials, is alive following recent strikes by Israel and the United States across Iran on Saturday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi informed NBC News during an interview from Tehran that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is alive “as far as I know.” He also stated that “all high ranking officials are alive.”
Araghchi further mentioned that he had communicated with Gulf states to assure them that Iran has no intention of attacking them. He emphasized that Iran’s actions targeting American bases are acts of self-defense.
The foreign minister also highlighted the absence of communication with Washington at present. However, he noted, “if Americans want to talk to us, they know how they can contact me. We are certainly interested in de-escalation.”
