Dhaka: Prime minister's political advisor and BNP Standing Committee member Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today stated that the BNP is following the democratic path laid down by Begum Khaleda Zia, known as the mother of democracy and an uncompromising national leader.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rizvi made these remarks as the chief guest during a brief discussion preceding a prayer gathering organized by Dhaka Mohanagar South BNP. The event was held to commemorate Begum Khaleda Zia's 82nd birth anniversary at the Motijheel AGB Colony Community Centre.
Rizvi emphasized that the name of Begum Khaleda Zia will be eternally honored as long as Bangladesh and nationalism endure. He highlighted her teachings on patriotism and the sacrifices she made for the nation's welfare, often at the expense of her and her family's security and comfort.
He further recalled the actions of Ziaur Rahman, who declared Bangladesh's independence in 1971, disregarding personal family safety. Rizvi compared this to Khaleda Zia's three-decade-long uncompromising struggles on the streets for the nation.
The event was chaired by Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP Convener Rafiqul Alam Majnu MP and managed by Member Secretary Tanvir Ahmed Robin. Special guests included BNP Chairman's Advisory Council member and Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Bir Muktijoddha Abdus Salam, State Minister for the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs Ishraque Hossain MP, and BNP Volunteer Affairs Secretary Mir Sarfatali Sapu. Leaders and activists of Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP and its associated organizations were also present.
