London: Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon today emphasized the significant contributions of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia in promoting girls' education in Bangladesh. He highlighted her pioneering efforts in expanding educational opportunities for female students across the nation during a high-level ministerial dialogue organized by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister reiterated the government's commitment to ensuring quality education for all by adopting inclusive, learner-centred, and engaging teaching methods. He expressed the intention to create an environment where every child can learn effectively and thrive.
In addition to his participation in the dialogue, Minister Milon engaged in discussions with Godwin Obaseki, the former Governor of Nigeria's Edo State. The conversation focused on the "One Teacher, One Tablet" initiative that has been implemented in Edo State, sharing valuable insights and experiences.
Following the dialogue and meetings, Dr Milon attended a reception at the House of Lords, hosted by Baroness Rosie Winterton, the UK's Trade Envoy to Bangladesh. The reception focused on enhancing Bangladesh-UK cooperation in education, with discussions on transnational education, educational technology collaboration, curriculum reform, innovation hubs, third-language training, and employability.
Minister Milon emphasized the importance of aligning education with industry demands to improve employment opportunities and boost economic productivity.
