Dhaka: Former Bangladesh captain Khaled Mahmud Sujon has expressed his willingness to rejoin the national cricket team setup if the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) offers him a suitable position. Mahmud, who has a history of coaching roles with the team, stated that he would gladly accept the responsibility should the board extend an offer. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mahmud emphasized his dedication to coaching, describing it as his livelihood. He affirmed his readiness to take on any role the BCB deems him fit for, despite never having been appointed as head coach for a specific term. Currently, Mahmud is concentrating on his duties as BCB's game development consultant, a role entrusted to him by the board, for which he expressed gratitude. "The president has given me the responsibility of game development consultant. He may have felt that I can contribute in this area. I thank him for considering me worthy. I will try to contribute as much as possible," Mahmud stated. Addressing rumors of d iscord with national team coach Mohammad Salahuddin, Mahmud dismissed the notion, maintaining that their relationship has been amicable over the years. He highlighted their shared history, having known each other since childhood and transitioned together into coaching. Praising Salahuddin's growth as a coach, Mahmud remarked on his colleague's maturity and high-level performance. He expressed confidence that their professional rivalry, stemming from coaching different teams, has never strained their friendship. Mahmud concluded by noting his happiness over Salahuddin's achievements, indicating that their competitive past only strengthens their bond.
