Dhaka: Keokradong, a popular tourist destination located in the Ruma upazila of Bandarban, will officially welcome tourists starting October 1. This development comes after a public notice was issued today detailing the reopening plans.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the notice was signed by Deputy Commissioner Shamim Ara Rini. The decision to reopen Keokradong to tourists was made following a meeting on September 21 by the District Law and Order Maintenance and Coordination Core Committee. The resolution also involved consultations with the Ruma Upazila administration and the Bandarban Region Cantonment.

The official announcement specifies that only certain destinations, including Keokradong, will be accessible to tourists, while travel to other areas within the upazila will remain restricted due to ongoing law and order issues. To ensure safety and compliance, tourists are required to be accompanied by a registered tour guide who has been approved by the district or upazila administration.

Further stipulations include that visitor information must be submitted at relevant check-posts or tourism service centers. Any violations of these rules should be reported to the authorities. The use of unfit vehicles is prohibited, and legal action will be taken against those who do not comply. The notice also warns that if any unforeseen incidents occur, tourism activities may be restricted once again.
