Dhaka: Keokradong, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the hill district of Bandarban, will not be opened to visitors on October 1. Deputy Commissioner Shamim Ara Rini confirmed the delay in reopening, stating that necessary official procedures need to be completed before visitors can be welcomed back.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Deputy Commissioner Shamim Ara Rini remarked, “The opening of Keokradong was scheduled on October 1. However, Keokradong will be opened for visitors after completing necessary official procedures.” She further clarified over the phone that if everything proceeds positively, an official public notice will be issued to inform the public about the new opening date.

On September 27, during the inauguration of a single-use plastic removal campaign at Meghla Tourist Spot in observance of World Tourism Day, DC Shamim Ara Nipa had initially suggested that Keokradong might reopen for tourists on October 1. However, the recent announcement indicates that travel to Keokradong will remain restricted for tourists until further notice.
