Khulna: Khulna City Corporation (KCC) has initiated the distribution of Radio Frequency Identification Cards (RFID) to easy bike owners and drivers, facilitating the legal operation of passenger and goods-carrying vehicles within the city.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the program was inaugurated by KCC Administrator Firoz Sarker at the GIZ Auditorium in the KCC's Nagar Bhaban. The RFID cards, equipped with QR codes, are designed to help authorities easily identify legally authorized easy bikes. This initiative is expected to prevent the use of unauthorized blue books, number plates, and stickers, which are currently used to deceive authorities.
The introduction of RFID cards aims to reduce illegal easy bike operations, thereby easing traffic congestion in Khulna. Owners and drivers can collect the cards from the Licensing (Vehicles) Section between May 6 and May 22, 2025, from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm.
Drivers are instructed to carry the RFID card and blue book while on the road and to ensure the digital number plate and sticker are properly displayed. Additionally, easy bikes must feature red canopies, green bodies, and closed right sides with stainless steel pipes.
From May 22 onwards, any easy bike lacking an RFID card, blue book, digital number plate, and sticker will be deemed illegal, with legal action ensuing for non-compliance.
Present at the event were KCC Chief Executive Officer Laskar Tajul Islam, Chief Revenue Officer Rahima Sultana Bushra, Chief Planning Officer Abir Ul Jabbar, Revenue Officer S.K.M. Tasadduzzaman, and Public Relation Officer Md. Abdul Mazed Mollah, among others.
