Khulna: Khulna City Corporation (KCC) has distributed Tk 6.84 lakh as a financial grant to 74 puja mandaps within its jurisdiction in preparation for the upcoming Durga Puja 2025. The distribution took place on Tuesday with the aim of supporting the mandaps in their preparations for the festivities.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Divisional Commissioner and KCC Administrator Md. Firoz Sarkar presented the cheques to representatives of the mandaps at a ceremony held at the Shaheed Altaf Auditorium. He attended the event as the chief guest and underscored the need for a festive and secure environment during the Durga Puja celebrations.
The KCC Administrator instructed officials to establish monitoring committees in every ward. These committees will oversee the preparations for the puja, ensuring safety and cleanliness. Additionally, he advocated for the installation of CCTV cameras at the entry and exit points of all mandaps and stressed the importance of cleaning and properly lighting the immersion ghats.
The ceremony was attended by KCC officials, as well as leaders from the Hindu Welfare Trust, Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council, Puja Celebration Committee, and representatives from the mandaps.
