Khulna: Khulna City Corporation (KCC) authorities have designated 141 locations within the city for the slaughtering of sacrificial animals, encouraging city residents to utilize these sites during the holy festival of Eid-ul-Azha.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, KCC is following directions from the Local Government Division to prepare these locations, which are distributed across 31 wards in Khulna. The list of designated spots was submitted to the Ministry last week. Acting Chief Conservancy Officer and Executive Magistrate of KCC, Kohinur Zahan, stated that 67 KCC vehicles will be allocated for the removal of animal remains by midday on Eid Day.
In addition to the initial cleanup, vehicles will patrol the roads until midnight to ensure thorough cleaning, if necessary. Sixteen KCC units will be responsible for waste removal, with each unit assigned to a specific ward. The city corporation will also supply approximately 4,000 kg of bleaching powder and 400 liters of Savlon for sanitation purposes.
A public awareness campaign is scheduled to begin three days before Eid-ul-Azha, aiming to encourage residents to use the designated slaughtering areas. These sites will be equipped with butchers, cleaning staff, and an Imam to oversee the slaughtering process.
Kohinur Zahan expressed the hope that everyone would use the 141 designated spots for their sacrifices. KCC staff will continue to manage waste cleanup for two days following Eid-ul-Azha to maintain a clean and environmentally friendly city atmosphere.
