Khulna: Khulna City Corporation (KCC) authorities have designated 141 locations within the city for the slaughtering of sacrificial animals, urging residents to utilize these areas during the holy festival of Eid-ul-Azha.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Local Government Division has directed KCC to prepare these designated spots across 31 wards. A list of these locations was reportedly sent to the Ministry last week. Acting Chief Conservancy Officer and Executive Magistrate of KCC, Kohinur Zahan, noted that 67 vehicles will be engaged in clearing garbage from sacrificial animals by noon on Eid Day. Additionally, vehicles will patrol the roads until midnight to ensure thorough cleaning if necessary.

The initiative will involve at least 16 KCC units, each assigned to a ward, to manage the removal of animal waste. Kohinur Zahan mentioned that KCC will supply approximately 4,000 kilograms of bleaching powder and 400 liters of Savlon for cleaning purposes. To encourage the use of these designated
areas, a campaign will commence three days before Eid-ul-Azha.

Designated slaughtering grounds will be equipped with butchers, cleaning staff, and an Imam to oversee the sacrificial proceedings. Kohinur Zahan expressed hope that everyone would utilize the 141 designated spots for animal sacrifice. KCC staff will continue waste removal operations for two days post-Eid to maintain an eco-friendly environment in the city.
