Trishal: Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md. Asaduzzaman today stated that National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam was a bright star in the literary sky whose works have earned global recognition as subjects of research. He made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the second day of a three-day program commemorating Nazrul's birth anniversary in Trishal, Mymensingh.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was organized by the district administration with support from the Ministry of Cultural Affairs. The minister highlighted that Nazrul was a poet of equality, rebellion, love, and humanity, who brought attention to the struggles of the poor and oppressed while remaining vocal against communalism.
"The people of Bangladesh love Nazrul deeply and will never forget him," the minister remarked, noting that the poet believed in the principle that humanity is above all. He emphasized that Nazrul's work remains relevant today, particularly in countering religious misuse and communalism.
Reflecting on Nazrul's early life, the minister mentioned that the poet was admitted to a school in Trishal in 1914 and excelled in the Persian language. The event also saw the presence of State Minister for Textiles and Jute Md Shariful Alam, Mymensingh-7 MP Dr. Md Mahbubur Rahman, Divisional Commissioner Farah Shammi, and DIG Md Ataul Kibria as special guests. The session was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Md Saifur Rahman.
