Kavre local level buys health insurance for 2,600 HHs for free

The Roshi Rural Municipality in Kavre district has offered health insurance services to 1,780 households (HHs) for free. The rural municipality has paid the amount of the benefitted locals’ insurance premium. Likewise, the health insurance scheme is offered to 886 other families from the federal government.

Chairman of Roshi Rural Municipality Dinesh Lama said that the beneficiaries include people from 60 years and above.

Likewise, 54 people with complete physical disabilities have been provided with insurance scheme and half of the insurance premium amount of three HHs of the women volunteers is also paid.

The rural municipality said that 401 HHs have paid their health insurance premium on their own.

With this, a total of 37.31 per cent of the total citizens of Roshi Rural Municipality received their health insurance, Chief of Health Section of the rural municipality Ganga Shrestha said.

For the health care of the senior citizens, the rural municipality spent Rs 6.25 million in the last fiscal year.

According to Chairman Lama, the health insurance scheme was implemented in the rural municipality to insure the treatment of every citizen from the municipality and to leave no one for lack of proper health care services.

Meanwhile, the rural municipality has also begun the anti-rabies vaccination drive from Wednesday. The anti-rabies vaccine is being given for dog and cat for free.
