Riyadh:Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad has expressed deep shock and strong indignation over the recent attack at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which resulted in casualties and injuries, including Bangladeshi nationals.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Minister Kaikobad communicated with Mohammad Ali Kashemi, the coordinator of the affected Umrah group, to inquire about the condition of the injured. He emphasized the importance of providing medical treatment, security, and assistance to the injured Bangladeshis.
The minister assured that necessary support was provided to ensure safe accommodations for the Umrah pilgrims. He highlighted the significance of Saudi Arabia to the Muslim world, noting its importance as the location of the Holy Kaaba and the Prophet Muhammad's resting place. He stated that the security and stability of Saudi Arabia are crucial for Muslims globally and condemned any attack on the nation.
Kaikobad urged unity among Muslim countries to protest against such attacks and violence, affirming Bangladesh’s strong condemnation of the incident. He stressed the importance of protecting the "Guests of Allah" and declared any violence against innocents and pilgrims unacceptable.
Under the directives of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the ministry and relevant departments have been instructed to monitor the situation continuously and take necessary actions. The government prioritizes the safety and well-being of Bangladeshi citizens and Umrah pilgrims in Saudi Arabia, ensuring they face no undue hardships and can return home safely.
The minister reaffirmed Bangladesh's support for the families of the victims, promising comprehensive assistance for the injured. He maintained that constant communication with Saudi authorities is ongoing to ensure the safety and care of all Bangladeshis in the country.
Kaikobad expressed gratitude to the Saudi government for their prompt measures in providing medical aid and security for the pilgrims. He reiterated the commitment to stand by Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the enduring friendly relations and cooperation between the two nations.
