Dhaka: The government has appointed Justice AKM Asaduzzaman as the chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) alongside two other individuals as commissioners. The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification regarding these appointments, aligning with Section 6(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the two newly appointed commissioners are Dr Jahangir Alam Khan and Dr Md Sazzad Hossain Bhuiyan. The notification specified that Justice AKM Asaduzzaman’s appointment as chairman falls under Section 5(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004.
The notification further outlined that under Section 13 of the Act, the salary, allowances, and other benefits of the ACC chairman are set at the level of a judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court. Similarly, the benefits for the two commissioners are aligned with those of a judge of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court.
The appointments are to take effect immediately, as stated in the notification.
