New Delhi: The qualifying round of the IHF Men’s Handball Trophy 2024-Asia is set to take place from January 3-7 in the capital city of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. A total of eight teams, comprising youth and junior categories from four nations, will compete in this event organized by the International Handball Federation. The participating countries include Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and the host nation, India. The victorious team from the tournament will secure a direct berth in the World Cup.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Bangladesh Handball Federation announced the preliminary squads for the youth and junior handball teams on Thursday. The announcement marks the beginning of preparations for the tournament. A training camp featuring the initially selected players will commence soon, with the final squad selections to be disclosed at a later stage.
The Bangladesh U-18 youth squad includes players such as Md Farshid Khan from Dhaka, Taufiqur Rahman from Dhaka, and Sheikh An
as Ahnaf from Kushtia, among others. The team also includes goalkeepers like Sojib Kisco from Khagrachari and field players from various regions like Panchagarh and Bandarban.
The U-20 junior squad boasts talents like Rubel Ahmed from Chapainawabganj, Siam Ahmed from Kushtia, and Arickson Biswas Dip from Jessore. The squad features a diverse group of players from different districts, including Dhaka, Rangamati, and Bandarban, highlighting the widespread handball talent across Bangladesh. The teams are now poised to start their training regime, aiming to make their mark in the upcoming international competition.
