Dhaka: Mohammad Murad Islam, who was injured in the anti-discrimination student movement known as the July uprising, has been transported to Vegthani Hospital in Thailand for enhanced medical care. A press release from the health ministry confirmed that a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport this morning, carrying Murad Islam to his new destination for treatment.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Director General of the Health Directorate, Prof Dr. Md Abu Jafar, was present at the airport to see Murad Islam off. The decision to send him to Thailand was made to ensure he receives state-of-the-art medical attention, particularly robotic rehabilitation therapy, which is available at Vegthani Hospital.
Prof Badrul Alam, the Joint Director of the National Institute of Neuroscience Hospital, highlighted the advanced treatment plan awaiting Murad Islam in Thailand. The student movement, which sought to address and rectify systemic discrimination, saw num
erous participants injured, with Murad being among those requiring specialized care due to the severity of his injuries. The move underscores the commitment to provide him with the best possible medical interventions.
