Noakhali: Shaheed Md Hasan, a figure in the July Mass Uprising, was laid to rest at his family graveyard in the Tariqullah Samaj area near Chewakhali Bazar in Subarnachar upazila this morning, fulfilling his mother’s wish. His funeral prayer, known as namaz-e-janaza, was held in the area at around 9 am.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, several notable figures attended the funeral, including Deputy Commissioner Khandaker Istiaq Ahmed, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Noakhali District unit Amir Ishaq Khandaker, National Citizen Party (NCP) Senior Joint Chief Coordinator Abdul Hannan Masud, and Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Noakhali unit Convener Ariful Islam. Leaders from various political and social organizations were also present to pay their respects.
Md Hasan sustained critical injuries on August 5, 2024, in Chattogram during the July Mass Uprising. He was first admitted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital. As his condition worsened, he was moved to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka. For further treatment, Hasan was transferred to Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand, and later to Payathai Phaholyothin Hospital in the same city.
Hasan died at the hospital at 11:10 pm on Thursday while receiving treatment. He was 25 years old at the time of his passing. His body was flown back to Dhaka yesterday at 6 pm on a Bangladesh Biman flight.
