July Revolution Spirit To Be Upheld Through National Referendum: Khalid

Nimtala: Religious Affairs Adviser A F M Khalid Hossain today emphasized the government's commitment to upholding the spirit of the July revolution through an upcoming national referendum. He stated that a victory for the 'Yes' vote would prevent fascism from emerging in the country.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Khalid Hossain addressed the National Imam Conference as the chief guest, where he urged citizens to support the referendum. The conference was organized to campaign for and encourage public participation in the referendum process.

Khalid Hossain highlighted the need for constitutional changes to be enacted through a fair referendum conducted by an elected government. He mentioned that such a referendum would establish a balance of power between the President and the Prime Minister.

Discussing the electoral process, Khalid Hossain assured that Bangladesh would witness its first free, fair, and inclusive election. He noted that unlike previous elections, the upcoming vote would truly reflect the people's choice, with the party receiving the most votes forming the government.

He called for neutrality in the electoral process and urged the public to safeguard ballot boxes during the election. The event was chaired by Habiganj Deputy Commissioner Abu Hasnat Mohammad Arefin, with Superintendent of Police Mst Yasmin Khatun and other senior officials also participating.
