Dhaka: A 'July Memorial' will be constructed on Chittagong University (CU) campus in memory of the martyrs of the 2024 July Uprising. CU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Forkan disclosed the information to BSS at around 9:00 pm today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the decision to build the memorial aims to honor the sacrifices made during the uprising. The Vice-Chancellor stated, "We have decided to construct a 'July Memorial' on the CU campus in memory of the July martyrs. We will start the work soon."
The uprising saw the martyrdom of two students from the History Department at CU-Shaheed Hridoy Chandra Tarua and Shaheed Farhad Hossain. In addition to the loss of these students, Mohammad Shuvo Hossain, a student of the Bangla Department, sustained severe injuries, resulting in the loss of sight in his right eye after being shot during the events of July 2024.
