Dhaka: The 'July Mass Uprising Day-2026' will be observed across the country with due dignity tomorrow (Wednesday) under the theme, "Building the Nation in the Spirit of July, Bangladesh First." The observance aims to honor the sacrifices made during the uprising, emphasizing national unity and progress.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs is organizing a reception for the families of the July martyrs and the July fighters. This will be followed by a discussion meeting at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar at 11 am. Acting President Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram, has agreed to attend the program as the chief guest, with Liberation War Affairs Minister Ahmed Azam Khan presiding over the meeting.
As part of the central program, officials including the minister, state minister, and secretary of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, along with senior officials, will lay wreaths at the July Martyrs Memorial at Shahbagh at 6:01 am tomorrow. Notable figures such as Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, and State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Ishraque Hossain will serve as special guests. Additionally, representatives of the families of the July martyrs and July fighters will deliver speeches at the event.
The Ministry has also arranged for various programs nationwide to commemorate the day. Similar events will take place in all districts, upazilas, city corporations, municipalities, and Bangladesh missions abroad. Special prayers and Dua will be offered at places of worship to honor the martyrs of the July Mass Uprising.
Several museums, including the July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum, Bangladesh National Museum, Military Museum, and National Museum of Science and Technology, will remain open for children throughout the day. Additionally, special meals will be provided at government hospitals, prisons, children's homes, and old-age homes, while the national flag will be hoisted on key roads, government buildings, and memorials.
To further highlight the day's significance, educational institutions across the country will host discussion meetings, essay writing, recitation, and drawing competitions.
