Jhenaidah: Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman today affirmed the government's dedication to implementing the July Charter through processes that are constitutional and legal in nature. He emphasized that the government is determined to fulfill public aspirations by adhering to the stipulated provisions of the charter in accordance with the constitution.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the law minister articulated these commitments while serving as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony for the re-excavation of the Shirishkath canal. This canal, originally excavated by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, is located in the village of Kanyadah in Harinakunda upazila of Jhenaidah. Asaduzzaman highlighted that the government's actions are in contrast to the BNP, which he claimed does not aim to govern the country with misleading assurances.
He further elaborated on the historical significance of July, noting its transformative impact on the nation's trajectory. In honor of those who sacrificed their lives or went missing in democratic movements spanning from 1952 through 2024, the BNP is committed to implementing the July Charter fully and faithfully.
The law minister also referenced the canal excavation initiative as a pivotal development strategy initially introduced by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. He credited Ziaur Rahman with paving the way for Bangladesh's economic independence through large-scale canal excavation projects. Asaduzzaman praised Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for continuing his father's legacy by revitalizing the canal excavation program, which is expected to further the country's development and production capabilities.
The event, presided over by Jhenaidah Deputy Commissioner Abdullah Al Masud, was attended by Jhenaidah-2 lawmaker Ali Azam Md Abu Bakar, Jhenaidah-3 lawmaker Matiar Rahman, Jhenaidah-4 lawmaker Abu Talib, Jhenaidah Zila Parishad Administrator MA Majid, and Superintendent of Police Mahfuz Afzal, among other notable figures.
