‘July Centre’ Inaugurated at Dhaka University

Dhaka: To commemorate the historic July Mass Uprising, the ‘July Centre’ has been inaugurated at the July Shaheed Smriti Bhaban of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall of Dhaka University today. Dhaka University’s Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education), Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed, opened the ‘July Centre’ as the chief guest.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall Provost Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman chaired the event, and Associate Professor Dr. Khorshed Alam moderated the program. In his address, Dr. Mamun highlighted the significance of the July Revolution of 2024, emphasizing that it was more than a student protest; it was the resurgence of national consciousness. He noted that Dhaka University was not just the epicenter of this awakening but also the driving force behind it.



Dr. Mamun remarked, “Our classrooms became battlegrounds for ideas, and our campus transformed into a fortress of justice,” urging all present to ensure the continued resonance of the spirit of July. The event saw participation from faculty members, students, officers, and staff of the hall.



Before the inauguration, a documentary was screened as part of the event, providing attendees with a historical overview of the July Mass Uprising.
