Dhaka: Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (JUCSU) held a significant job fair and career summit on Friday, aiming to bridge the gap between students and the corporate world by offering them direct interaction with potential employers.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the event, titled 'JUCSU Job Fair and Career Summit 2026', took place at the university's Central Sports Ground, featuring participation from more than 25 renowned corporate entities. These companies collectively offered over 700 job opportunities to the students, as confirmed by the event's organisers.
The fair was inaugurated by JU Vice Chancellor and JUCSU President Prof Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan. In his opening remarks, Prof Ahsan emphasized the importance of such initiatives in providing students with practical interview experience and boosting their confidence through direct interaction with potential employers. He highlighted that engaging with representatives from around 25 organisations simultaneously is a valuable experience for the students.
Prof Ahsan further stressed the role of the fair in narrowing the gap between academic education and industry requirements, thereby strengthening the relationship between the university and recruiting organisations.
JUCSU revealed that the BRAC-operated Career Hub served as the principal sponsor of the fair. Significant contributions were also made by platinum sponsors like New Zealand Dairy and Everest Pharmaceuticals, along with gold sponsors including English Therapy, Akij Healthcare and Hygiene Ltd, Theraprime Hotels and Resorts Pvt Ltd, and Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC. Silver sponsorship was provided by The Acme Laboratories Ltd, Spark Ride Technology Ltd, and Hamdard Laboratories Waqf Bangladesh.
The event saw participation from various organisations such as Abul Khair Group, RFL Group, Ifad Group, Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd, IIDFC Securities Ltd, e-Learning and Earning Ltd, Data Solution 360 Ltd, and Rhythm Blood Centre, among others.
Ferdous Al Hasan, JUCSU Joint General Secretary, stated that the fair was designed to introduce students from the first year to master's level, as well as recent graduates, to the corporate sector. He noted that students had the opportunity to communicate directly with human resources representatives, learn about job openings, and submit their CVs.
JUCSU General Secretary Md Mazharul Islam remarked that the students' union's welfare activities persist even as its tenure nears completion. He expressed that the job fair and career summit were significant reflections of their ongoing commitment, offering students a platform to engage with employers, gain interview experience, and explore career opportunities. Islam also mentioned that the union would consider the initiative a success if it positively impacted even a single student's career.
Rubina Jahan Tithi, an executive of sales and marketing at Theraprime Hotels and Resorts Pvt Ltd, commented on the event's value to employers, allowing them to evaluate candidates' CVs and recruit based on qualifications and skills. She noted that such fairs are particularly beneficial for young individuals entering the job market, helping them understand recruitment criteria and employer expectations.
The organisers concluded the day's events with a session titled 'Road to Corporate Career' at the university's Senate Building. This session featured experienced corporate professionals discussing topics such as career planning, corporate culture, CV preparation, interview skills, and professional development with the students.
