Dhaka: Jahangirnagar University (JU) authorities suspended Assistant Professor Saju Shaha of the Marketing Department over an allegation of sexual harassment. JU Registrar and Syndicate Secretary ABM Azizur Rahman confirmed the decision today, stating that the decision was made during an emergency syndicate meeting chaired by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Kamrul Ahsan on Tuesday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the university’s anti-sexual harassment cell sent a letter recommending the suspension of Assistant Professor Saju Shaha after a sexual harassment complaint was filed against him. Azizur Rahman noted that the syndicate decided to suspend Shaha temporarily to ensure a fair investigation into the allegations.
The suspension marks a significant step by the university in addressing allegations of misconduct among its faculty members.
