JU Prof Nurul Islam Made New Pro-Vice-Chancellor of National University.

Dhaka: Professor Dr. Md. Nurul Islam from Jahangirnagar University’s Geography and Environment department has been appointed as the new pro-vice-chancellor of National University (NU). The Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education issued a notification regarding this appointment today.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, President Mohammed Shahabuddin, who serves as the chancellor of the universities, appointed Dr. Md. Nurul Islam as the pro-vice-chancellor for a four-year term. He will receive salary and allowances equivalent to those of his current position, as stated in the notification.

Professor Md. Nurul Islam holds a PhD from the University of Nottingham in the UK, which he obtained in 2011. Prior to his doctorate, he completed his B.Sc (honours) and M.Sc (thesis) in Geography from Jahangirnagar University in 1992 and 1993, respectively.

In addition to his academic and administrative roles, Prof Nurul Islam is currently serving as the general secretary of the Nati
onalist Teachers’ Forum of Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit.
