Dhaka: Professor Dr. Md. Nurul Islam from Jahangirnagar University's Geography and Environment department has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Dhaka Central University (DCU). The announcement was made by Education Minister Dr. ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milan during a press briefing at the Ministry of Education.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Prof Md. Nurul Islam completed his PhD at the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom, in 2011. Before that, he graduated with a B.Sc (Honours) and an M.Sc (Thesis) in Geography from Jahangirnagar University in 1992 and 1993, respectively. Since November 3, 2024, Prof Nurul Islam has been serving as the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of National University.
