Jahangirnagar university: The Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit of the Bangladesh Chhatra Union has constituted a new 25-member executive committee for a one-year term. The announcement came after the conclusion of the Chhatra Union's 33rd council, which was held on Wednesday afternoon at the university's Shaheed Minar premises. The details were revealed in a press release issued by the office secretary, Md. Redowan Sikder, on Thursday night.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the newly elected president of the committee is Adri Ankur from the Anthropology Department, with Faizan Ahmed Arko from the Marketing Department serving as the general secretary. Key figures in the committee include Maisha Moni as the organizing secretary, with Sabereen Nawshaad and Sadia Islam Moon appointed as vice presidents. Simanta Bardhan and Zarin Tasnim Promi will hold the positions of assistant general secretaries, while Isfar Saadi has taken on the role of treasurer.
Other notable office bearers include Md Redowan Sikder as the office secretary, Imran Hasan Shuvo as the education and research secretary, Rifat Rafi as the science and technology affairs secretary, Anika Tabassum Farabee as the publicity and publication secretary, Nushrika Audri as the cultural secretary, Zanib Hasan Matiya as the social welfare and environment affairs secretary, and Istiak bin Iqbal as the sports secretary.
The committee also comprises executive members Riddha Anindya Ganguli, Amartya Ray, Anika Ibnat Anchal, Ayesha Naz Tanha, Nahidul Islam Nayeem, Sajid Rahman, Adrita Roy, and Siam Mahmud, along with two co-opted positions. The newly formed committee made its first public appearance on Thursday night during a cultural event at Selim Al Din Muktomancha, which marked the first anniversary of the July Mass Uprising on the campus.
