Dhaka: Jahangirnagar University has announced a 19-day holiday for its students in observance of the holy month of Ramadan, Shab-e-Qadr, Jumatul Bida, Eid-ul-Fitr, and the Independence and National Day. The university’s Acting Registrar, ABM Azizur Rahman, disclosed this decision through a notification issued on Monday.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the notification specifies that all classes and examinations at the university will be suspended from March 10 to March 26, 2026. This period will also see the closure of weekend and evening programs. As March 27 and 28 fall on the university’s weekly holidays, Friday and Saturday, all academic and administrative activities are slated to resume on March 29.
The notice highlights that the inclusion of declared holidays and weekly offs results in a continuous 19-day closure for the university.
