Dhaka: Jahangirnagar University (JU) has received 2,19,399 applications for its undergraduate admission test in the 2025-26 academic year, with 119 candidates set to contest for each of the 1,844 seats across seven units. Member-Secretary of the JU Admission Management Committee and Deputy Registrar (Academic) Syed Mohammed Ali Reza confirmed the information to BSS this afternoon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the unit-wise breakdown reveals significant competition across different faculties. The ‘A’ unit, representing the Mathematical and Physical Sciences Faculty, has 426 seats and received 60,351 applications, resulting in 141 candidates vying for each seat. Meanwhile, the ‘B’ unit, which encompasses the Social Sciences Faculty, has 326 seats with 20,583 applications, equating to 63 applicants per seat.
In the ‘C’ unit, which includes the Arts and Humanities, and Law Faculties, there are 466 seats with 47,497 applications, leading to 101 candidates per seat. The ‘C1’ unit, focusing on Drama and Fine Arts, recorded 3,725 applications for 64 seats, resulting in competition among 58 applicants per seat.
The ‘D’ unit, representing the Biological Sciences Faculty, faces the highest pressure with 70,220 applications for 310 seats, reflecting a ratio of 226 candidates per seat. The ‘E’ unit, which covers the Business Studies Faculty, has 200 seats and received 11,612 applications, translating to 58 candidates per seat.
For the Institute of Business Administration-JU (IBA-JU) unit, 5,411 applications were submitted for 50 seats, where 98 students will compete for each seat. The university authority announced that the undergraduate admission test will commence on December 21, with further details, including the final schedule, to be announced on the admission website ( and via newspaper notifications.
