Dhaka: Home Minister and BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed today emphasized that the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) will serve as the central platform for discussing all issues to transform Bangladesh into a powerful democratic nation. He made these remarks while addressing journalists after attending the inaugural session of the 13th parliament at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Salahuddin Ahmed stressed the importance of the parliament in fostering a democratic culture that will strengthen the country’s democratic framework. He reiterated the commitment to reform the country and its constitution through democratic means, aiming to create a robust democratic environment.
Ahmed expressed confidence in building a Bangladesh free from fascism by adhering to democratic practices, aligning with the aspirations of the martyrs of the 1971 Liberation War, the July Uprising of 2024, and the general populace. He underscored the need for continued democratic exercises to achieve these goals.
Addressing inquiries regarding the Jamaat-e-Islami’s walkout from the House before the President’s speech, Ahmed stated that the walkout followed established procedures and is considered a part of democratic practice.
