Dhaka:Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Chief Whip Md. Nurul Islam Moni has emphasized the critical need for public awareness, regular health check-ups, and early detection in the fight against breast cancer. He advocated for the expansion of awareness programs across all levels, including educational institutions, to ensure the health protection of women.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Chief Whip expressed these views while serving as the chief guest at an event titled 'Pink Wellbeing A Journey of Breast Cancer.' The program, organized by Talent Sharpener, took place at the Renaissance Dhaka Gulshan Hotel in the capital's Gulshan area. The event was themed 'Stronger Together for a Healthier Tomorrow.'

The Chief Whip highlighted that the population is Bangladesh's greatest asset and noted that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is focused on transforming the country's population into skilled, healthy, and self-reliant human resources. He stressed that since women constitute more than half of the country's population, their health protection is crucial for overall development.

He noted that breast and cervical cancers pose significant health risks to women and stressed the importance of raising awareness among female students and young women about reproductive health, disease symptoms, and prevention. He also called for the removal of social taboos and inhibitions surrounding health issues.

The Chief Whip urged the implementation of awareness programs in government schools, colleges, universities, and medical colleges. He mentioned plans to present specific proposals and action plans from experts to the Prime Minister and the Health Minister. He also encouraged women to undergo regular check-ups, seek early diagnosis, and receive timely treatment.

Highlighting the role of specialist physicians, he suggested using social media to disseminate accessible and reliable health information. He concluded by stating that ensuring a healthy mother results in a healthy family and society, and that supporting women affected by breast cancer is a social responsibility.

The event was attended by Member of Parliament Bithika Benta Hossain as a special guest. A panel discussion featuring specialist physicians was also held, focusing on the symptoms of breast cancer, disease detection, necessary tests, treatment, and patient measures. The event was organized by Sayeeka Huq, Managing Director of Talent Sharpener.
