Joint Forces arrested former UP chairman Nasiruddin Nannu, 62 and his son Md Arif, 33 from a house in the town here this morning.
Media Officer of Coast Guard South Zone lieutenant commander BNHMM Harun-or-Rashid said two pipe guns and a few number of sharp weapons were also recovered from their possession.
Nasiruddin was the Chairman of Madonpur Union Parishad under Doulatkhan Upazila of the district.
Harun-or-Rashid said a team of the Joint Forces conducted a raid at a house in Weather Office Road in the town early morning and held them with the firearms.
The detainees were handed over to Bhola Sadar Thana police.
