Jamalpur:The district administration held a discussion meeting today to commemorate the 72nd death anniversary of poet Jibanananda Das at the town's public library premises.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Yusuf Ali attended the meeting as the chief guest, with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Afsana Taslim presiding over the event.
Speakers at the meeting praised the poet's significant contributions to Bangla literature, noting that his literary legacy will continue to inspire future generations. They highlighted his vivid depictions of the country's natural beauty, deep patriotism, and exceptional use of the Bangla language.
The importance of familiarizing students with Das's literary works was emphasized to help them appreciate his contributions to literature and develop their literary sensibilities. The discussion was followed by a cultural program.
Additionally, a two-day cake display was organized in honor of the anniversary. The event was attended by teachers, local poets, distinguished personalities, and students.
