Dhaka: Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) President Md Rakibul Islam Rakib today affirmed that the organization has never endorsed any form of injustice. He made this statement during a discussion and prayer meeting held in memory of Hasibur Rahman, a late student of Jagannath University and joint convener of the university's JCD unit, and Jobayed Hossain, a member of the same unit's convening committee who was murdered on Sunday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rakib expressed profound regret over the recent deaths of three Chhatra Dal leaders: Samya from Dhaka University, Parvez from a private university, and Jobayed from Jagannath University. All three were killed in a short period. Rakib highlighted that these individuals were recognized for their integrity and good character, emphasizing that they never participated in any form of injustice.
Rakib further stressed that, like Samya, Parvez, and Jobayed, most JCD members are principled individuals. He acknowledged that aside from a few troublemakers, JCD members lead honest lives, remain committed to Bangladesh, and uphold the ideals of their national leader, Tarique Rahman.
During the event, JCD General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir noted that, despite the death of 142 members of the student wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) during the July Uprising, the struggle persists as leaders and activists continue to lose their lives. Nasir commended the Jagannath University administration for its proactive role following the tragic deaths and expressed gratitude on behalf of the JCD for the university's support.
The event was attended by Vice Chancellor Professor Rezaul Karim, Treasurer Professor Sabrina Sharmin, Registrar Professor Sheikh Giasuddin, Teachers' Association General Secretary Professor Raish Uddin, Jagannath University unit convener Mehedi Hasan Himel, along with other university officials and student leaders.
