Cox's Bazar:A local leader of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) was discovered dead with his hands and legs bound, four hours after being allegedly abducted in Chakaria upazila of Cox's Bazar early Monday.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the victim, Isfatul Islam Jisan, 28, was the senior joint convener of the Kakara union unit of JCD and the son of Nazem Uddin from the South Lotoni area of the upazila. His bloodstained body was found by police in the Khutakhali-Kachhapia Dhala area along the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway, as stated by Ismail Hossain, the operations officer at Chakaria Police Station.
Police reports indicate that family members said Jisan was forcibly taken by a group of assailants who placed him into a microbus while he was standing in front of a shop in the Kakarara Saber Sadar area around 1230 am. He was then transported to Kabir Tower in the Sabujbagh area of Chakaria municipality, where the attackers allegedly tortured and killed him before dumping his body beside the highway.
Rezaul Karim Bappi, the president of the Chakaria upazila unit JCD, described Jisan as an emerging and active leader within the organization. Bappi condemned the killing and warned that if the perpetrators are not identified and arrested, the Chakaria upazila unit JCD would initiate a strong movement on the streets with students.
The body of Jisan has been sent to Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy. The incident has created tension in the Kakara Union and Chakaria municipality areas.
