Dhaka: Jatiya Party has postponed its rally in front of its central office in Kakrail tomorrow due to a ban on gatherings imposed by the DMP in the area. The party announced the decision in a statement issued on Friday night, signed by Khandaker Delwar Jalali, JP chief’s press secretary.

According to United News of Bangladesh: In the statement, the Jatiya Party said that it will announce further programmes at a later date. The party stated that the decision was made in respect of the law following the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s imposition of a ban on all public gatherings in Kakrail and surrounding areas on Saturday.

Earlier on the day, the DMP announced the prohibition on meetings, rallies, processions, marches, and demonstrations in the specified areas. This decision came hours after Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader declared that the previously scheduled rally would proceed as planned, despite the attack on the party’s office the previous day.

On Thursday evening, unidentified individuals reportedly set
fire to the Jatiya Party central office in Dhaka’s Kakrail area. Eyewitnesses recounted that a group of people, many wearing helmets and armed with sticks, entered the office through the main entrance. They chanted slogans, tore down banners and festoons, vandalized furniture, and set fire to the building’s front and several rooms inside.
