Japan: Japan has welcomed the 13th Parliamentary Election of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, held on February 12, as credible and largely peaceful.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Japanese Press Secretary Kitamura Toshihiro stated that an election observer mission from Japan, led by former Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Watanabe Masato, conducted on-site monitoring of the election. The mission included officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, the Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh, and an external expert.
The statement highlighted that the mission, headed by Mr. Watanabe Masato, ensured comprehensive monitoring activities. As per the observations, the election process adhered to established procedures. Japan expressed its support for Bangladesh’s democratic efforts and reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations under the ‘Strategic Partnership’ framework, aiming for the development and prosperity of Bangladesh.
