Dhaka: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami today introduced its election manifesto, committing to ensure public accountability by empowering citizens to hold the ruling party accountable for all commitments made within the document. Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman emphasized the importance of this pledge at the manifesto launch event in Banani area of the capital.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman stated that every promise in the manifesto is expected to be fulfilled within a specific timeframe, granting people the right to demand its implementation. “Every single point of the manifesto must be claimed from the concerned party by counting days, weeks, months, and years. That is the people’s right, and today we are here to uphold that right,” he remarked.
The manifesto is reportedly crafted from the opinions, aspirations, and expectations of people from various walks of life, with Dr. Shafiqur Rahman noting that it represents a collective national desire to build a country that truly serves its people. “We want to build a Bangladesh that the people of this country truly aspire for,” he stated.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman highlighted the manifesto’s broader objective, expressing that the party seeks victory not just for itself but for all 180 million citizens. He rejected dynastic and group-centric politics, advocating for politics rooted in public interest and participation.
Defining the nature of the manifesto, he described it as people-friendly, business-friendly, peace-oriented, and supportive of societal discipline. He also criticized the culture of vengeance and hostility in politics, which he claimed has caused significant harm to society and the state. Dr. Shafiqur Rahman expressed his commitment to an ethical Bangladesh and offered forgiveness to those who attempted to defame him.
The event saw the attendance of ambassadors, high commissioners, and diplomats from multiple countries and international organizations, along with leaders from different political parties, senior journalists, academics, business leaders, and other prominent figures.
