Khulna: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former lawmaker Professor Mia Golam Parwar described the announcement of the national election schedule as a positive step, while stressing that ensuring a free, fair, and acceptable election remains a major challenge. He stated that Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami would fully cooperate with the Election Commission in efforts to hold an election that is free, fair, and credible.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Parwar made the remarks while speaking to journalists after carrying out a mass outreach programme in the Zero Point area of the district. Parwar, who is also the party-nominated candidate for the Khulna-5 constituency, emphasized the need for a level playing field to ensure all parties enjoy equal opportunity throughout the election process. He highlighted the responsibility of the administration in maintaining neutrality, stating that no official should favour any particular candidate.
He further explained that after the election schedule is announced, all government officials fall under the jurisdiction of the Election Commission. Parwar stressed that no administrative authority should create opportunities for a specific candidate to win. He also mentioned that the eight parties involved in the 'PR and Five-Point' movement do not wish for confrontation or violence and are committed to ensuring an acceptable election.
Earlier at noon, Parwar addressed a views-exchange meeting with brickfield owners and workers at Allahr Dan Bricks in Kulbaria under Dumuria upazila. The meeting was chaired by Abdul Latif Jamaddar, with Brick Kiln Owners Association chief adviser Abul Kalam Azad also speaking.
Parwar added that the eight parties in the newly formed platform have agreed to support single consensus candidates in all 300 constituencies. He explained that top leaders would decide on the most familiar and winnable candidates for each seat, ensuring one candidate from the combined Islamic parties per area. Earlier in the morning, he conducted another outreach programme at Kathaltala Bazar and exchanged views with teachers, students, and locals at Mathbaria Qaumi Madrasa.
